where 2?

July 4, 2007

where 2?
mixed media shadow box
(fabric, wire, compass, dice and wood)

This piece is appropriately titled.  I really need to move on now to something new.  I guess I’m a bit afraid, strangely feeling out of the swing of making things besides birds.  I did some sketching last night and cleaned up all the little messes in my studio space in our bedroom.  Maybe I need to have no expectation about what exactly I will make and just get started.

We spent the morning at the Needham parade.  Happy 4th of July to you!

remember back to when making the birds was scary… then you’ll know that you can go on to something new and flourish.
We will all miss the birds though 🙂

I’ve always been a firm beleiver in the idea that if you tidy your physical space, you also tidy your mental space in the process……
Good luck with the new ideas…..relax and let it come to you…..with creative people, new ideas are never very far away……It took me a very long time and much frustration before I learnt to trust that process…..
I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

when I feel like you are feeling, I just keep working with the familiar until I can make the cross over to the unfamiliar….you will know when its time….it takes a long time to get the creation from the heart to the hands…….
when people ask how long does it take you? I always want to include all the thinking I did before I actually started working on it……LOVE YOUR BIRDS—!

I really admire your ability to stick with your birds and see how they play out in many different ways. They have come out very beautiful.

All of the elements in this piece play so beautifully off of each other – the various textures, the colors, the print on the bird’s wing. It all works so amazingly well together. What a design eye you have.
