Next Friday night, January 11, I'll be speaking at IgniteCraft Boston at the Stata Center at MIT. The event is free and open to the public, although you do need to reserve tickets online. All sorts of interesting creative people will be giving five minute presentations about what they do. You can watch past year's presentations on YouTube to get a sense of what the talks are like. Here are two of my favorites: Mike Burke, the hornsmith, and Lucinda Campbell, from SewWrong.
I'll be talking about my evolution as a soft toy designer and explaining how my process works. I've got my slideshow all prepped and I'm very excited to be a part of this event showcasing the creative and unusual work of people with a vision and a mission. Large-scale collobrative origami? Knitting your own canvases? There are some great talks lined up. I know it's going to be an inspiring evening.
If you live in the Boston area, or feel like making a little road trip out of it, I'd love to meet you at the event! Please come introduce yourself and say hello. Doors open at 6:30 and the talks begin at 7:00.
