I have a few fun projects to share. First up, I made these two elephants for Sara Lawson's Quilt Market booth. Sara's first fabric line will debute at spring Market in a few weeks. Her line is with Art Gallery fabrics and it's callled Jungle Ave. It's inspired by city living. You can read more about it on Sara's blog.
Sara asked if I'd sew two elephants for her from a pattern in my book, Stuffed Animals and of course I said yes. Sara is a gem. She guest posted here on my blog a few months ago about how she recruits and manages pattern testers, which was pretty fascinating.
I don't often sew softies from quilting cotton and this might be first time that I was given fabric to sew them with. Sara sent along blender fabrics to coordinate with her prints and I used those for the ears and the tails. From this experience I realized the purpose of blenders: they contrast with the print just enough to break it up, but without being a distraction. That was neat for me.
And my other fun thing was the release of my second pattern with Simplicity. #1386 is now in stores nationwide, which is really exciting! This pattern is also one of my best sellers in my shop.
I'm excited to have three Simplicity pattern envelopes out now (#1681 and #1649) with the taxidermy deer, unicorn, elephant, and giraffe coming out next year. So fun!

I tried to pin the elephant to my board…do you have things blocked from Pinterest?
Abby says
Hmmm…No. There’s a Pin It button at the bottom of each post. I hope that helps.
