scenes from the studio today

More fish!  The pattern for these is almost ready, thanks to my awesome friend and neighbor, Carolyn, who has excellent Photoshop skills.  Hooray!

DSC_0005

I've just about used up all my seed beads.  I see this an excellent excuse to go to the craft store very soon.

DSC_0006

More starfish, too.

Pens, including the all important fabric marker, in vintage Fire King mugs.

DSC_0015

Wool felt scraps. Every time I open this bin they all spill out.  I tend to save every little scrap. You never know when you might need a particular color.

DSC_0018

The ironing board with remnants of at least three projects.  Could be almost time to fold and put away.

…………………..

Monday night is the Passover Seder.  We are hosting and there will be nine people here.  I am doing all the cooking.  On the menu:

Ritual foods:

haroset

horseradish (Charlie makes this and seems to revel in lifting the top off the food processor after the root has been ground so that his eyes water)

hard boiled eggs

Before the meal:

homemade salmon gefilte fish

matzoh ball soup

The Meal:

sweet and sour brisket

kugel (or Google, as Stella would say)

cabbage slaw

Dessert:

sponge cake

homemade ice cream

berries

chocolate covered matzoh (the kids picked this out at Super Stop n Shop)

I've got lots of cooking to do, for sure!

Are those hemostat clamps I see in the starfish picture? I’ll have to show Jon–he’ll be so excited. We have tons of them that he brings home from work (unused, of course), and they are so useful to have around the house.

Tis truly enjoyable to study the pdf to
    see the steps, presented beautifully!
Hope I don’t lose it switching to
the new computer. All that’s missing
are the food recipes. The egg shapes
will be useful to me! Kudos to you and Carolyn, and just when I thought I might survive wo a new Photoshop.

and I thought I was the only person in the world who uses needle holding surgical clamps for crafting

I always like seeing images from sewing rooms. I’m not the only one who saves all the little bits! I appreciate that you have listed your seder menu. I’m having 16 people here Monday. I just made the haroset (my family was eating the apples as quickly as I peeled them. I finally had to send them out of the kitchen). I am making roast lamb.
I love that everyone is interested in the hemostats. I have some surgical instruments left over from graduate school. We midwifery students practiced our suturing on styrofoam blocks. Funny that I have now repurposed some for the sewing room!

Is the recipe for Salmon gefilte fish the same as for regular whitefish, just with Salmon? We cannot get fresh fish here very easily, but CostCo has Salmon. I am hatching a plan…could you let me know about the recipe if you get a chance?
