One of Charlie’s colleagues has given me a bunch of her old linens over the last few weeks. She gave me a set of round cloth napkins embroidered with little strawberries and leaves that I thought might make good mushroom tops. I have wanted to make a mushroom for my little snail to hide under so I gave it a try.
Can’t say I’m totally pleased with this project, but I’m also not sure it is headed for the "shelf of the damned" (a name Charlie coined in reference to the high up shelf in our room/my studio where all the failed toys live).I think I need to try again.
I think it’s cute! They make a nice set. Very organic. And you made me giggle with the shelf. You have your very own land of misfit toys!! You could always donate them to charity. I’m sure they’d make some child happy.
I think the mushroom is ADORABLE! All your little toys are so gorgeous, I can’t believe you have a “shelf of the damned”!
shelf of the damned…. i love that and have some of my own to add. to avoid the mushroom landing there, maybe a more neutral gill side? in linen with raw seams making the gills… i am sure you have lots of time on your hands for exactly that.
I am a regular reader of your blog. I thought to myself that this is probably my favorite of all the wonderful things you have shown us. Then I was surprised to read you are not totally pleased with this project. Such is art – touches people in different ways.
I think they make for a charming vignette. Great mushroom!
what a petty your mushroom is… have a blessed time.
Have a great Christams and a crafty New Year

I live near the ‘Mushroom Capital of the World’ and a little store up there called ‘The Mushroom Cap'(Kennett Square, PA) would probably sell these if you are interested. : )
Very cute as are all your things!
