Happy belated 4th of July

July 5, 2005

We had such a nice long weekend. The weather in Boston was perfect. We went to a barbeque on Sunday and saw our friends Jay and Carrie who are about to have a baby any minute now. Charlie and I went out on a date to the book store and out for sushi and ice cream on Sunday evening and on Monday Roxy got to go to her favorite playground AND to the pool. During nap time on Monday I cleaned the studio. It had gotten so messy with left over scraps and patterns from about a dozen already finished projects. It feels so good to have a clean work space again!

The second black and yellow owl is finished except for the beak (I seem to have misplaced my beak pattern). I made some origami birds with my new paper and I’m trying to find a good way to put them on cards. Here is one attempt,
Dscn1108
which I’m not too happy with.

I also made an orange and green bunny,
Dscn1111
again not so great, but I got to try some shashiko embroidery on both projects inspired by my new book on Japanese embroidery.

With my clean sewing table and organized supplies, I got inspired to start on my apron for angry chicken’s new venture Tie One On. I didn’t participate last month, but I like this month’s theme, Pink Lemonade. Check out the awesome gallery of everyone’s entries for last month’s Home on the Range theme here. If all goes well, I should have an apron to post in a day or two.

Cute bunny – love his bright and cheery ‘skin’! And the card looks lovely – I think it works well.
