Monday morning I fly out to San Francisco to teach a class at CreativeLive. My class is called Email Marketing for Crafters and it’s part of a five-day series called Improve Your Holiday Sales.
The week kicks off with Price Your Craft taught by Tara Gentile. Pricing your products isn’t just about covering your expenses and making a profit. Learn how to set a pricing strategy that tells a story about your business and helps you reach your goals.
Tuesday is my class. I’ll teach you how to use email marketing to build relationships, drive sales, and grow your business in a sustainable and authentic way. You’ll learn how to develop a compelling, personal, and effective email strategy. If you don’t yet have an email newsletter but want to start one, or if have one but it’s underutilized, this class is for you.
Wednesday’s class is about productivity and time management. In How to Get More Done, Tara Swiger will lay out a simple action plan that will help you manage your time, your business, and your family life more efficiently. You’ll identify your time-sucks and unproductive distractions and overcome common scheduling pain points by developing an action plan that works.
Lisa Jacobs will be teaching Thursday’s class, Copywriting for Crafters. You’ll learn wordsmithing tricks and techniques that lead customers to check-out. Lisa is an experienced Etsy seller and creative consultant. In this class, she’ll help you write the words that reach customers and motivate them to make a purchase.
To finish out the week, Megan Auman will be teaching Build Your Holiday Marketing Plan. You’ll find out how far out in advance you should communicate about your holiday promotions and develop a rhythm for keeping your customers informed without venturing into overkill. Megan will help you set solid goals and teach you how to develop a marketing plan tailored to meet them.
All of the classes are free when they air live (you can catch mine on Tuesday from 9-4 PST). You can also purchase each class separately ($79), or get them all together as a bundle ($149). When you buy a class you get a whole packet to download. My class includes my ebook, plus five new tools I’ve developed to help you develop an email strategy that works and is sustainable.
Preparing for this class has forced me to learn how to use Keynote (I took this excellent CreativeLive class taught by Keynote expert Kevin Allgaier) so now I can make slides like a pro. And the CreativeLive people will be transporting me around via Uber making me the first person in my family to actually take an Uber so I’m feeling really cool.
This will be the second online class I’ve filmed this summer (the first one was with Annie’s and goes live on August 27). I really believe that video is going to play an increasingly greater role in how we teach and learn online and I love new media. I’m excited to see firsthand how it all works. I’ll be posting photos from my trip on Instagram. I hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Hi Abby,
just finished your course on email marketing and wanted to drop you a note that I LOVED it. I’ve had a newsletter on my mind for some time, but was too scared. Not so anymore. This is going to happen and it is going to be fun. Thank you so much!
Cheers Annika
(Also: your pop up box is perfect! small enough to not be annoying, but big enough to get seen…)
