doll animals

June 6, 2011

I've been working on animals that are made like dolls.

The heads are animal-like, but the bodies are like dolls that you can dress.  Roxanne picked out the pink fabric for this bunny's dress.  It is reversible with a tiny snap closure and little buttons at the shoulders.

Thank you so much for all of your recommendations for out-of-print soft toy books!  I went over to Alibris and ordered several titles that I had never heard of before. I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival! I will read them on the beach blanket at the Morses Pond with the kids.  We went yesterday for the first time this season and it was so beautiful there.  It was Josephine's first time in a bathing suit.  We put her feet in the water, but it was too cold for her and she cried.

Here is an outtake form this morning's photoshoot – my six-month-old assistant says hello.

Cute bunny! Love the reversible dress. I’m thinking along these lines for a family of mini critters to inhabit my vintage heirloom dollhouse for vignette photoshoots.
I want arms and legs that I can pose. I’m thinking pipe cleaners inside arms and legs or under clothes like some vintage 1940s dollhouse families I’ve seen recently. Thanks for the inspiration!

I like this alot! Hey – any ideas on how to keep the clothes ON the animals? My kids just like taking the clothes off. I usually end up sewing the clothes onto the bodies – which makes my toddler very grumpy! 🙂

Animal dolls are my absolute favourites, I’m not sure if I prefer the animal or the teeny clothes making.

That bunny is adorable!! I definitely would’ve loved a bunny like that when I was little 🙂
