Crafty Subscriptions for Mother’s Day

April 27, 2015

CRAFT SUBSCRIPTIONS

Mother’s Day is May 10. That’s just two weeks away!

Over the past year or so I’ve become a big fan of subscription boxes as gifts. I received a subscription to BirchBox for the holidays which was lovely and for my birthday last summer I got a gift certificate for StitchFix, which I love! A subscription makes great gift because it keeps coming, month after month, long after your special day has come and gone.

If you have a crafty mom, or mother-in-law, or wife, or mother-like person in your life, a craft subscription box would be an amazing gift and, fortunately, there are now lots of great options on the market. Whether you’re shopping for a quilter, a knitter, a crocheter, an embroiderer, a cross stitcher, a mom with young children, or a scrapbooker, there’s a subscription box that fits the bill!

Let’s take a look…

MoccasinFor the quilter:

The Moccasin Block of the Month Club from Pink Castle Fabrics includes 11 months of modern quilt block patterns with full-color photos and diagrams, fabrics to complete each block, binding fabric the last month, and instructions for the quilt top assembly. Price: $164.40.

Pink Castle also offers fabric bundle subscriptions. I think the Kawaii Fabric Club is pretty nifty. Get 8 fat quarters of adorable kawaii fabrics each month. Price: $44/ month.

For the knitter:

The Space Cadet Mini-Skein club includes a mix of hand-dyed fingering weight yarn. Choose between a multicolor mix or ombre and gradient and get a box of beautiful yarn in mail each month.  Price: $32/month

FicStitchesFor the crocheter (and fiction lover):

FicStitches Yarn Kit Club is a quarterly box specially designed for crocheters. Each box includes a crochet pattern designed by Laurinda Reddig, hand-dyed yarn by an indie dyer, a handmade accessory or hook by Monica Lowe, and an original fiction story by C. Jane Reid. Sign ups close at the end of this month so act fast! Price: $55 for one box.

Dropcloth Sampler SubscriptionFor the embroiderer:

A Dropcloth 6 month stitch sampler subscription includes a new 5″ pre-printed sampler each month ready to hoop and stitch. These samplers are portable for hand-stitching on the go and are small enough to easily finish in a month’s time. They’re designed by embroidery artist Rebecca Ringquist and are exclusive to subscribers. Price: $50.

Why not add a subscription to Creativebug as well? That way your mom can watch Rebecca’s class to brush up on her embroidery skills. Price: $4.95/month

StitchyBoxFor the cross stitcher:

Each Stitchybox contains either two fat eights or one fat quarter of fabric for cross stitch, a variety of embroidery floss from both big names like DMC and more unusual brands, goodies and embellishments, and a pattern suggestion. Get a three box subscription to take you through several seasons of stitching. Price: $98.55

pipsticksFor the mom who crafts with kids:

Pipsticks is a sticker subscription club. A 6 month subscription gets you a fun pack of stickers in the mail each month to enjoy together with kids. Price: $80.

MB2_FullKit_originalFor the scrapbooker:

Messy Box is a curated scrapbooking box put together by the women at A Beautiful Mess in conjunction with Studio Calico. Each package contains a color coordinated set of papers, journal cards, die cuts, and washi tapes. Price: $131.94 for 6 months

+++++

And there are many more craft subscription boxes out there to check out. If you have a favorite, please leave it in the comments so that we can take a look.

I hope this gives you some innovative ideas for Mother’s Day gifting this year and, of course, you can also go ahead and sign up for a crafty subscription just for yourself. Getting fun mail is the best!
