Last week I took all three kids on a plane trip to visit my sister in D.C. It went surprisingly well, despite the fact that all of us, except the baby, have had a terrible stomach bug. My sister and her husband have a lovely new townhouse in Old Town, Alexandria. We celebrated my Dad's 75th birthday with all the cousins.
The day we got back our rental chickens arrived from Land's Sake Farm in Weston.
This is our third summer with rental chickens and we love them so. One day we will get a permanent coop and two chicks to raise. This summer's chickens have been named Puff Belly and Brocco.
I like to sew chickens, too.

You rent chickens? For petting or for eggs or both? 🙂

Fun post! I love how you went from the photo of the “real” chicken to the photo of your plush chicken–super fun! 🙂

Yes! The farm where we get our CSA has a chicken rental program. They bring us a coop, bedding and food, and two hens. This summer we have them for two full months! We get all the eggs and the enjoyment of caring for them. We pay a fee and put down a deposit (refundable when we return them alive and well at the end of the rental period!). So much fun!
