Bee Mine Sew-Along Begins Today!

January 14, 2014

Bee Mine Sew-Along-2

Guess what? Valentine's Day is in just a few weeks. Let's have some fun this year and sew together! Join me for a Bee Mine Sew-Along. We'll make adorable love bugs and have them finished in time to give to someone special on Valentine's Day. I'll work on one for each of my three daughters. Maybe you'll make one for a child, too, or a grandchild? Maybe for a sweetheart, or for yourself? Everyone could use a love bug to hug on Valentine's Day, don't you think?

For the Bee Mine Sew-Along we'll be using the Benji the Bumblebee pattern.

Joining the Sew-Along is Easy!

The pattern is discounted to half price (that's $4.50) today through February 14. To join the sew-along grab a copy of the pattern and some fleece scraps in fun colors, and then start sewing! This month on the blog I'll have tutorials showing you how to make heart-shaped wings and how to add some crinkle if you want to make your love bug extra fun for a baby.

Submit a photo of your Love Bug to the Abby Glassenberg Design Facebook page by February 13 (or email me your photo: abbyglassenberg at comcast.net) and you'll be entered to win a fun prize! Here's a handy button you can use in a blog post if you'd like, and the hashtag for Instagram and Twitter is #beeminesewalong.

Bee Mine Button

I'll choose one lucky winner from the Facebook/email entries to get a copy of a new book that's just about to be released, Never Been Stitched: 45 No-Sew & Low-Sew Projects! This book is tons of fun, full of fast and simple fabric projects you can make without sewing, including two projects from me. International entries are welcome! Never Been Stitched

Are you in?

It's going to be so fun to sew together with you. I'm excited to see my girls' faces when they get their Love Bugs on the 14th. Valentine's Day, here we come!

Alright! I’ve bought my pattern, I’m joining along!!! I just found out my Brother and Sister-in-Law will be having a baby girl this June, so I think a cute little bee would be a lovely gift to give them! (We always used to sing the “I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee” song when we were little) … and this “Sew-a-long” is a great incentive for me to actually work on it and get it done, rather than just buying the pattern and then forgetting I bought the pattern… doh!

I’m in! This would be a fun little present for my toddler on Valentine’s Day. I like the alternate view in pink as well! What a cute little love bug.

I love the heart-shaped wings! And, I’m very excited about that book. 🙂 Do you think you might add a tutorial for how to add legs? I think I could use the antenna pattern, made a little longer, and attached in the side seams. Thoughts?

My nickname for my 5-month-old grandson is “love bug!” This will perfect to hang above his little play mat–he loves batting at things above right now. I may try to add a jingle bell in the belly. Thanks so much for this fun sew-along!
