Imagine making a baby’s first favorite toy – a soft, huggable, handmade teddy bear. This bear has embroidered features and machine-sewn arms, legs, and ears. There are no small parts that might come off, even after years of snuggling and play. And make a cute matching blankie, too, perfect for the crib and complete with little ribbon loops to play with.
This quick and easy pattern will become a go-to staple of your sewing repertoire, as you turn a half yard of soft fleece and a fat quarter of quilting cotton or flannel into an adorable bear and blankie set that will delight baby and parents alike.
A quick and easy gift for that special person’s baby shower!
The Baby Bear and Blankie Set pattern is available in my Etsy shop and as an instant download in my Craftsy pattern shop.

That’s such an adorable bear! I made a bear for my son before he was born (almost 2 years ago) and it never got a face because I was intimidated. He doesn’t care and isn’t really into stuffed animals anyway, but it’s still bothering me!
Faces are the most intimidating part of every softie! Grab that bear and let's put a face on him! First, draw one in your sketchbook. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a smiling face made up of curved lines is fine. Thread an embroidery needle with two strands of floss (separated out from the six total that make up the floss) about 18 inches long. I like to embroider the nose first. If you want a guide, cut a piece of brown felt into a triangle and use a glue stick to stick it to the nose. Then satin stitch over it! That helps tremendously. Then satin stitch the eyes. For the line between the nose and the mouth a long, straight stitch is usually perfect. Then use stem stitch for the smile. I hope that helps!

Another winner, Abbey. i love the characters you create.
Thank you!
I am a complete novice sewer, however I have a strong desire to make some bears like this one to donate to charity. I have been looking for a simple pattern that is easy to make, that actually looks like a teddy bear and doesnt take all day to make. I work full time and have 2 children. Approximatley how long does it take to make one of these?
Hi,
I think it will take you a few hours to create each bear.
