Magical Molly and Bronco Ben Hobby Horse Pattern

May 13, 2012

Pattern Cover Collage
I am very excited about this new pattern. Last summer I made a hobby horse and it has been sitting in the corner of the studio staring at me all this time. I reimagined it as a magical pink unicorn sewn in dark and light pink fleece with colorful polka dotted reins, a sparkly horn, and striped stick. Say hello to Magical Molly!

And then I made a second one that is ready to ride your little cowboy off into the Wild West. Bronco Ben is sewn from light and dark brown fleece and has red gingham reins. I lent him to my friend who took some beautiful pictures of her son riding (and hugging) him! It's so nice to have a boy model for once!

I love classic toys. Even with all the computer and video games, kids still love to ride a hobby horse. And this is a seriously cool toy to make. It's simple, but the results are so appealing. And don't worry, the dowel is a standard size that comes pre-cut at the hardware store so it is really easy to find.

A fun, easy to make toy that inspires creativity? Perfect.

The pattern includes clear written instructions, step-by-step photos, and full-sized templates. It is now available for instant download in my Craftsy pattern store and on Etsy.
