I finished this kangaroo up last night. She’s pretty big – about 16″ tall – and made from that sherpa fleece I love. Her inner ears and her joey are both linen and her garland is made from little felted beads I made and some wool felt and braided embroidery floss. Lots of fun. And, as you can see from this picture, the rug arrived for the nursery yesterday from Chiasso. The black and white baby nursery is becoming a reality. Now I really need to get motivated and sew that bumper.
I have had two really positive experiences with readers of my blog in the last few days. Heather had bought some stuffed toys of mine and generously sent me some lovely lovely organic cream-colored flannel which just arrived. I can’t tell you how touched I was – what a nice thought and this fabric is so thick and wonderful! Thank you!
And Cathy gave me a tip on how to locate a copy of the manual for my Bernina Bernette 330. I bought my sewing machine when I was 13 and the manual is long lost. There are all sorts of buttons and dials on my machine that I don’t understand, but I’ve never been able to locate a manual. It seems that the Bernette 330 was made for schools, for Home Economics classrooms, and there was often only one manual for many machines. Cathy owns 19 different sewing machines (wow!) and helped me find an eBay seller who has the manual! I’ve ordered one and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
She is an adorable roo & I think she will be a great mother too!
Very nice kangaroo! Thanks for reminding me about making a bumper – I still need to do that.
Wow! That is a cute kangaroo. Look at that wee baby.
she’s so cute! so serene and calm.
live the kangaroo, and totally love the rug…although i love all the rugs at Chiasso! i am reminded that i must get further along on the black, white, and touches of red baby blanket i am mkeing u, April is not too long off now…
She’s wonderful, you’ve outdone yourself! I love her expression and how she’s leaning back slightly like she’s rocking her baby to sleep – so sweet 🙂
Lovely… I love it.
the kangaroo is absolutely lovely. i adore the flowers.
Have you ever heard of kangaroo care? It’s what we nurses try to get mommies and daddies to do with their premie or newborn babies that are a little sick or not holding their temp. It simply means holding your baby skin-to-skin so that the babies can regulate their temp better and hear their parent’s heart beat and grow stronger. It’s truly a wonderful sight. Seeing this little kangaroo reminded me of that and it warmed my heart! I love it!!
I love your kangaroo! The fabric and colour are so lovely 🙂
adorable! lovely work as usual.
Adorable & sweet color choice..luv it!
This so reminds me of a kangaroo my sister had as a child. She carried around everywhere with her!
