In this episode of the While She Naps podcast my guests are Gale Zucker and Kristin Nicholas.
Kristin is a knitwear and stitchery designer. She worked as the Creative Director for Classic Elite Yarn in Lowell, Massachusetts for 16 years before venturing out on her own as a designer, author, and teacher. Kristin and her husband, Mark, and their teenage daughter, Julia, live on a working sheep farm in a farmhouse that dates from 1751. They have 400 sheep, some chickens, cats, a dog, a donkey and a llama!
Gale Zucker is a location photographer specializing in shooting for yarn companies, designers, and craft books. She photographs real people in real places in a storytelling style and has photographed for everyone including TV Guide, the New York Times, the Smithsonian, Consumer Reports, Fortune 500 companies, and prestigious universities.
Gale is the co-author and photographer of two books, Craft Activism and Shear Spirit, and she’s currently working on several new book projects including one about fashion at the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival. Gale lives in shoreline Connecticut with her family.
We open the show by talking about Gale and Kristin’s careers and current projects. These are two exceptionally accomplished women who know the craft industry well and have great experiences to share.
We then jump into what is often my favorite part of the show: our recommendations. Gale, Kristin and I recommend awesome things we’re enjoying right now.
- Indian tapestry bedspreads like this one for adding instant chic to any room.
