There is going to be a section in the book about designing toys based on basic shapes. I am working on a sample project and sewing instructions for my editor, Thom (hi Thom!). The project is due the first week of June. In order to escape from that feeling of being so crazy overwhelmed that I can't possibly start anything, I have been just playing with basic shapes.
I think I've decided on a project to do. It's spherical and lovable, just wait!
Now I have some basic shape toys hanging around and I listed these two just now in my shop.
This bird is made from a series of traingles.
And the fish is a cube. Years ago I did a whole series of cube zoo animals, remember? If you do, you are really a loyal reader and I love you.

I totally remember the cube zoo–I think yours is the second blog I ever started reading and it’s been amazing to watch your evolution as an artist. If I haven’t said it–congrats on the new book. A technique book is much more interesting to me than the majority of pattern-focused books and your online series was amazingly useful so I can only imagine how good the book will be.

I remember those animals! The triangle bird is great though – I like that the wings and feet don’t have to be stuffed so there are less pattern pieces to fiddle with.

These are cute, but I totally remember the cube lion. It was so doggone cute with its mane.

The fish is super cute! Well done, It’s hard to get such clean lines and angles when making a plush toy.
