I took my dog pattern and shrunk it down to 85% and made a little puppy. I accidentally sewed the ears pointed backward on the puppy, but I like him just the same. I gave him a little collar made from a scrap of vintage cotton fabric with a decorative gray button.

Kid’s Craft: How to Make an Easy Rainbow Weaving
My friend, Beth, hosted a little craft night a few weeks back. We were weaving ribbon barrette's, similar to these I found on Etsy. Do you remember wearing these? I had a pink and white pair that I loved. And did you have a plush doll's head, with long braids, to hold all of your…
snails and a bluebird
I'm nearly back to my old crafting self, at least during the daytime. Evening is still spent on the couch, but I am appreciating my good daytime hours so much. It's Camp Mommy next week before day camp begins. We've got lots of plans including swimming at Morses Pond down the street, tie dyeing, finishing…
backyard chickens – a one month rental
Our hens arrived nearly a week ago. They came with this mobile coop called a chicken tractor. It was made last year by a group of Eagle Scouts. It's really a cool design. It allows us to pick up the whole thing at the end of the day and move it a few feet onto…
first day back at the farm
Yesterday was the first day of our fourth summer with a CSA at Land's Sake Farm in Weston. We were so happy to be back! The weekly ritual of visiting "our" farm is one of the very best parts of the summer for us. The kids know their way around and feel very at home….
lilies
Yesterday afternoon Stella and I spent about an hour making some paper lilies for her teachers as an end of the year gift. Stella was very excited about this project. She has four teachers who work in her classroom so we made four flowers. I took four sheets of white printer paper and cut them…
snail
I made this snail this morning. I love little projects like this. Start to finish – 45 minutes. So satisfying. Tomorrow is Stella's last day at Temple Emanuel Nursery School. Next year she will be in pre-K at PAWS, the public pre-school in Wellesley. This is marking the end of four years of driving back…
looking skyward
Like me, this little yellow bird is looking up at the bright June sunshine and is feeling very well this morning. I finally cut into a linen Vera napkin I bought at a vintage store in Atlanta last year. It is so springy and bright and was in perfect condition. I have a bit left…
