when the birds are back!
I’m steadily working on making things for the show at Art Star. It will be called, “Out of the Wild,” and will feature work by Kate Durkin, Maggy Hiltner and me. The show opens at the end of July and I have only just begun to sew again so I have a lot to do!
Before I starting feeling sick I was thinking about using brighter color choices. In keeping with those thoughts, all of the work for this show is really bright and full of vibrant color. And there are seed beads on everything, including a little garland around this bird’s head.
We just had our front deck completely rebuilt. You can see a bit of it with the bird. No more crumbling steps and rotting columns! Next up, the whole exterior of our house will be painted in early June. It will stay gray and white, despite the girls’ suggestions for rainbow (they would also like to name the baby Chicawana for some reason). Learn about adding features to your deck with features like built-in seating, lighting, and more.
And we are getting chickens again this summer! Either the first or the second week of June, two chickens from a nearby farm will come to stay with us for a month, along with a mobile coop that will be in our side yard. Last summer we had them for only two weeks and we missed them so much when they had to go back. While they were here we named them Mary Todd and Other Chicken. I’m not sure we’ll get the same ones this summer. Maybe we can name one Chicawana to get it out of our system.

I like how you used the pinkish thread. Just that little hint of color gives depth to the whole piece.
