I have been thinking about ways to sell my patterns on my own. I could, for example, put together a fish kit containing everything you would need to make and sew your own goldfish.
Inside you would receive my pattern and step-by-step instructions, plus all the materials to make your own fish except the thread and the stuffing: wool felt in 3 colors, seed beads, round beads for eyes, and two squares of sparkly nylon for the tail.
The fish pattern requires beginner to intermediate sewing skills and includes some great little tricks that you can use for all sorts of softie projects once you see how they work.
So what do you think? It would certainly be fun for me to work on, and I think it is a great project to make. Would you make one?

That sounds like a great idea. Plus I think these would also look great as a mobile for a child’s room! Or you could also sell the pattern separately as well.
Terrill says
I was just thinking about the mobile idea! (You could have a starfish, and a jellyfish. . .) But, yes, I would make a fish.

Yes, please!

that’s a wonderful idea! i would definitely buy something like that!
Melissa says
Hooray – I love your fish!! That’s a great idea.

Great idea, I’m not sure about postage on a kit -here in Australia, a pattern posts very cheaply but then once it is a parcel- even a tiny one, the cost is ridiculous. So maybe just patterns would also be a good idea.

Adorable !!! We have a herd of Bettas here and they would look great in felt !

Thank you so much for the positive feedback, everyone! I am working on the pattern. I would love to develop it as a PDF and have it available that way, but I need some computer skills help! Hopefully I can figure it out, but if anyone has any words of wisdom I’d love any help I can get!

yes and yes! Do make those kits. I adore those fishies.
Yana says
thats a great idea! if you have kits available in different colours people will be able to choose what they like. you could also have a larger kit to include 3 fish (for example), which can be made into a mobile. 🙂
Yana says
in regards to the PDF… you can make it in office word or publisher format and then convert it into a PDF. there are free converters online, and that way you don’t need expensive software or comprehensive computer skills 🙂

I would be interested in either a kitset or just the pattern as Im in Australia. In regards to doing a PDF file I have used Cute PDF writer and the download is free. You do up your document in word and then press file print and select Cute PDF writer and it converts the file to a PDF. Its really simple to use.

Thank you so much! I will try it today! I really appreciate you help!

If you have a Wacom tablet, you could draw and write…but I like Yana’s suggestions as well. Can’t wait to hear the solution!
Gilli says
Yes please, lots of patterns :0)
abbyjane says
Thanks, Gilli. I'm working on it!

I would like to have the patterns for making the goldfish, please? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks! Rocio
