"Flight Path"
mixed media soft sculpture and collage
8" x 10"
I found blue wooden dice at the recycling center at the Children’s Museum in Boston. I’m actually not such a big fan of the Children’s Museum due to the crowds, but I am always a big fan of the recycling center.
And I picked up a nice old student atlas at the Wellesley dump recently along with a college astronomy textbook.
I am satisfied with the composition of this piece.
Here is a detail of the matchbox and the crisscrossing threads.
We are finally getting ready to purchase some permanent shelving for the studio corner of our bedroom. A big pile of my paper ephemera ended up in the trashcan on the curb this week before Charlie ran out in his pajamas to rescue it. I think that pushed us over the edge. Hopefully we’ll get over to Modhaus some time in the next few weeks to search for a mid-century bureau or credenza that I can fill with fabric and paper and other bits and then rest finished pieces on top of.

Hey, there. I don’t always take the time to comment, but I continue to be floored by your artwork. This piece is another beauty. Wow.

Lovely piece! I like what is going on in the bird’s wings and the tail. Is that stitching or drawings on the fabric?
Also, you might want to check craigslist for a bureau or credenza. I recently saw a gorgeous mid-century bureau listed there for $50. I would have snatched it up myself had I a way to transport it easily. 🙂

Another amazing piece! Oh! That paper dilemma! I have it, too. I just inherited a unit that was used for draftsman’s blueprints and I am beside myself with glee! It has about 14 shallow very large drawers! It is solid pine and blonde, which matches the rest of my cabinets!

I love this composition. I like the scale a lot.

It’s been awhile since I visited your blog – that’s a very lovely composition. Storage is always a dilemma in my craft room. Though this is nowhere near a beautiful credenza, I purchased a Burt’s Bees metal shelf display recently at the closing of one of the gift shops at the hospital I work at in which I use to store my bottles of acrylic paints and extra fabric. It’s not a bad purchse for only $8.00.

The crossing threads in the box work great with the scribble-like design on the bird’s wings. Another gorgeous piece!

Wow, I love the thread work on the wings and the little box. I wish we had all the recycling places that you do, it would be so much fun to go treasure hunting like that 🙂
