We are snowed in today. Charlie took the car. Nursery school is canceled. Roxanne spent nearly an hour at the kitchen sink this morning playing with suds and water with two valentine rubber ducks my mom sent. And we played out in the snow – twice already. And we baked bread.
Now everyone is quietly sleeping and I finished this little party dude.
Roxanne is turning 3 on March 15 and we are planning a very small party with three friends and an alphabet theme. She is currently totally enamored with the alphabet. I found some alphabet cookie cutters and alphabet stickers and stamps. I think we’ll make alphabet crowns and read some alphabet stories. And of course I will be making an alphabet cake.
She totally freaks out when people sing happy birthday, though. She has specifically requested that we NOT sing at her party. In fact, she doesn’t want candles even. So I guess we’ll just hand her the cake and wish her well.

That turtle is so adorable.
My guy (almost 4 now) freaks out about the birthday song too. What is that? People always sort of roll their eyes at us, like, can you please control that brat while we try to sing Happy Birthday? Now I know there is someone else out there who understands. 🙂

What a nice party dude!

I love your turtle and I agree with Roxanne that the birthday song is scary and have never liked it in my 51 yrs..

Oh, I always freaked out with the birthday song, and it wasn’t until my neice was born (10 years ago…I was 20+ ish) that I would even consider letting anyone sing to me. It’s amazing what you’ll do when a child you adore comes along!

I love the new hat!

Hi, I just discovered your blog a few days ago, via a Norwegian blog that I sometimes visit. I love your toys, and will definetly check out the Penguin book when it is published – for patterns… (Fortunately, they sell Penguin books up here by the North Pole as well). The Amy doll was adorable too, and I would love to make one for my daughter who is now 13 months old. If I can find the book via Internet, that is. Anyway, this blog is truly inspirational, I will continue to visit and I wish you the best of luck at the Masshort!

My son who will be three in April also screams about the birthday song. Your day sounded like our day in PA. It was so nice to finally be outside in the snow all day and sled. The turtle looks great.

HA! I’m older than Roxanne by……9 years and one day!

Oh, the stir-craziness that snow days can cause! Baking bread sounds like the perfect antidote. And your newest guy is so sweet – the party hat is adorable.

Maybe they could all sing the ABC song…? And have you seen the cute alphabet fabric (or was it numbers, now I can’t remember!) at Jo-Ann’s? Great for a party dress!
And I’m older than Roxanne by EXACTLY 32 years. Had to stop and think about that…I must be getting old!

The more I hear about Roxanne, the more I’m convinced she’s the coolest kid ever. Tantrums and all.

I don’t like to have Happy Birthday sung to either. I love how her hat it tilted on that little head of hers and that tail, very cute!
