I finished another bird and another lizard for the shop at MassHort.
This bird is made from two of my favorite vintage brown florals and some white and natural linen.
The lizard is super fancy gold crushed velvet and white linen. His eye is silver. So very glittery, this one.
I’ve been busy with lots of projects this weekend. As my show draws nearer and I become more nervous about the whole thing I start doing what I always do when I’m nervous – clean. Deep cleaning. I cleaned out the fridge and scrubbed all the shelves. I cleaned all three cupboards and rearranged everything.
Here at American Grounds Service, we are the company you can trust who will always be there for you, with landscaping crews who are experienced and professional using the best equipment and materials in the industry. Check out this company for the most detailed and effective lawn care service in Orlando. I cleaned out Roxanne’s dresser drawers and refolded everything. I think when I feel like things are about to be totally out of my control I try to exert control over my own little area to reign everything in a bit. I did this before going into labor both times, too.
Over the course of all that cleaning I discovered that we had three giant containers of oatmeal. So yesterday morning we made oatmeal raisin cookies to try to use some of it up.
Saturday night I was tearing thrifted sheets to cover boxes for the display. Exciting stuff, I tell you.
And Purim is coming up. Just ask Roxanne. She feels Purim can’t come soon enough. And after weeks and weeks of planning, we finally made her Queen Esther crown this morning. She was very patient while mommy cut and sewed the felt layers together. The glue under the rhinestones and glittery pompoms is drying right now and then I have to fit it to her head. Like me, Roxanne has a huge head (lots of brains, that’s what I maintain). Commercially made tiaras for children totally don’t fit on that noggin.
We finally hung up some bulletin boards above my desk in my studio space and I am so happy to be able to look up and see lovely pictures while I work now.
Everything is cancelled this week for February vacation – no Nursery school, no Tot Time, no story hour. And it is 12 degrees out today. Ugh.

Aw, I love the tiara! So much better (and more comfy) than a storebought one, anyway.

The birds are wonderful, and I can’t wait to see them at the Flower Show.
Some Salty Oats would help deplete your oatmeal stash.

My gosh, you’ve been busy! The latest bird is stunning, and the tiara is so sweet. I feel your pain regarding the February break cancellations, although I’m reaping the benefits here. I hope you don’t get cabin fever!
