Friday night we had a sitter. After dinner at a pub in Waltham we went to two used bookstores on Moody Street. Having the time to browse the shelves of a used bookstore is such a wonderful luxury now. I found this book from the later 70’s translated from German
I just love the design of the cover – the color combination, the lower case letters, the doll they chose and its pose.
Saturday morning was Stella’s naming ceremony at our shul. Her Hebrew name is official now – Esther Bayla. We had a little lunch with the grandparents at our house afterward. Here we are with my mother-in-law, Judi. I like this photo because Stella looks so pretty in her pink fancy baby dress, because Judi, who is a five year ovarian cancer survivor, looks so healthy and made it to see this day, and because I just lost 15 pounds and you can start to see it in my face.
Saturday night I made this collage. It incorporates some little watercolor and ink drawings I made and cut up a long while ago and some other interesting papers from my ever growing stash of paper scraps. The background is painted with acrylics. It is blue and orange/red like the cover of the German doll book. Somehow it seems like a reflection of my mood this weekend.
Sunday we did a bit of shopping in Cambridge on the way to a friend’s house and I picked up these little Japanese bear clips
more to be found at bottom of this site.
The eyes on each bear are in a slightly different place and I was struck by how much that alone changes their expressions. They are resting on my new favorite piece of tree fabric. I just love Atelier Jade.
I’m getting all my hair cut off this week. I can’t wait.

I love the picture because it looks like Stella is holding a beer. Harpoon Summer – the choice of nursing infants everywhere!

The bear clips make me want to sculpt some polymer clay and stick it on mini-clothespins.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it done with hair clips, but those have to be a lot stronger and have the right glue to hold them or else something’s going to break. It would work just right with these clips though.
