I received the most wonderful package yesterday from Lisa. We did a swap a little while back for one of my kangaroos. Lisa made Stella a mod bird in return. I felt so honored because these lovely creatures are out of production now. And it is just beautiful!
Every time I walk past the nursery now I peek in to catch a glimpse of the bird. Lisa enclosed some wool felt and cotton prints, some of the cards she made with Mav, and a bag of paper ephemera that Charlie and I poured over last night. Wow. I love love love getting such good mail.
Thanks for all the comments on my tree doll. I’m really excited about her and you all had such good feedback and ideas about how to take her further. I’ve picked out fabrics for a new one, but before I can start I know I need to clear off my desk. Cleanliness helps me be creative – I’m weird like that. So in that spirit, I finished these six lambs
and the custom doll I was making for Olivia’s daughter.
This weekend we are going to visit my in-laws in New London. I am thinking it might be a good idea to get all the machine sewing for the sock monkeys done today and tomorrow so that I can bring them along and finish the stuffing and hand-sewing while I’m there. Sock monkeys involve so much hand-sewing! They always sell well at craft fairs, though, so I think I should come with at least five. Here is the pile of super-soft socks waiting to be cut up.
Poor Roxy is sick today. She had a fever last night before going to bed and I actually think she is taking a morning nap right now so no Puddlestompers Nature Class for us today. Looks like we’ll be home, taking it easy.

the little lamps are so sweet! i can’t wait to see your sock monkeys. i love love love sock monkeys. they sell well at chicago craft fairs in particular because i want to buy them all!!!! 🙂 but isn’t there a better way to make them? i have lots of socks saved up but it is that very handsewing you speak of that keeps me from digging in…

Oh I just LOVE those colors for socks, can’t wait to see the end result. By the way, where did you find such beautiful socks…I’m looking for those striped ones in pink/orange, red/orange, pink/brown, and blue/brown for my girls to wear under their boots this winter…where did you buy them?
The swap looked like a winner to me, sure wish someone would do one with me…my blog has lots of fun projects I do but seems no one finds me I guess.

Cleaning always launches me into a ubber productive fit. It’s like ‘wow, look at everything I have, I want to do so much!’ and I just hyperfocus and get stuff done.
And the lambs are an excellent and lovely example of getting stuff done, good for you!!! Tell Roxy to stop sniffling and feel better.
