I don’t usually take on craft projects other than making stuffed animals. I always lose interest part way through making a tote bag or an apron or, let’s say for example, a baby bumper, but every now and then I try again. This weekend I thought it might be a good challenge to make a pair of placemats using some of my yellow and gray vintage fabrics.
And I did finish them. I even added a little pocket for a spoon or chopsticks or a napkin. I’m not sure how practical it is to have just two placemats, but that’s all I am up to making right now.
I just love the backing fabric, picked up recently at the church rummage sale.
And guess what? I did actually sew one of the long sides of the bumper on Saturday. So now three sides are done and I cut out the fourth so the end is in sight.
And I’m due in four days. Enough said.

Your placemats are fabulous! I love the color combination.
Judging by your past productivity, I have no doubt that you’ll be done with the bumper well before baby arrives.
Take care!

Ooh! I love those. I wanna go make some. Everything you do is so inpiring. Because of you, I attempted my first softy. A little sheep for my Jack (2.5 yo). He normally has NO interest in stuffed animals but LOOOVED this one because I made it and he helped.
Anyhoo, Thanks again for the inspiration and have fun “gettin’ the baby out”!!

I won’t even begin to describe to you the things that I wasn’t doing (crafting) and the things that I did (drywalling) to get my baby out. Nothing compares to what you’re managing. These are really really lovely. They make great centerpieces…
