I finished this kangaroo up last night. She’s pretty big – about 16″ tall – and made from that sherpa fleece I love. Her inner ears and her joey are both linen and her garland is made from little felted beads I made and some wool felt and braided embroidery floss. Lots of fun. And, as you can see from this picture, the rug arrived for the nursery yesterday from Chiasso. The black and white baby nursery is becoming a reality. Now I really need to get motivated and sew that bumper.
I have had two really positive experiences with readers of my blog in the last few days. Heather had bought some stuffed toys of mine and generously sent me some lovely lovely organic cream-colored flannel which just arrived. I can’t tell you how touched I was – what a nice thought and this fabric is so thick and wonderful! Thank you!
And Cathy gave me a tip on how to locate a copy of the manual for my Bernina Bernette 330. I bought my sewing machine when I was 13 and the manual is long lost. There are all sorts of buttons and dials on my machine that I don’t understand, but I’ve never been able to locate a manual. It seems that the Bernette 330 was made for schools, for Home Economics classrooms, and there was often only one manual for many machines. Cathy owns 19 different sewing machines (wow!) and helped me find an eBay seller who has the manual! I’ve ordered one and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
