Here is my submission to Month of Softies for August. The theme was “The Wild West.” I made this horse from wool tweed. I’ve been inspired lately by some lovely soft toys I’ve see with exposed seams (like Mama Duck and, of course, the beautiful toys by Tamar Mogendorff). The pattern for the horse came from The Big Book of Soft Toys by Mabs Tyler which I posted about earlier. You are supposed to use a grid to enlarge the patterns in that book, but I just drew it freehand. All the features are wool felt.
I love Month of Softies. It makes me try things I would probably never try – I’m not really into the wild west nor am I really into horses, but I’m happy with this little guy so thanks, Claire for the challenge.
We went to Modhaus on Saturday and it was so excellent. A Danish teak stereo cabinet and a huge teak vessel are being delivered to our house at 2:30 today. We’ve finally made a start at furnishing our living room!

What a sweet horse! Definitely has a peaceful look about it, especially given that it’s from the “Wild” west!

So sweet! Is it machine sewn? Your mini-me aprons are wonderful as well, very bold colors, love it…I need to get going on my contributions for this month!

I love the way your horse turned out , when I saw the thumbnail on the flickr group I immediately thought of the Trojan Horse for some reason, perhaps it’s the lovely exposed seams or the line of his mane.
