Last night Charlie was out at a meeting until nearly 10:00 pm. It was so quiet here. Roxy is an awesome sleeper. She goes down at 6:20 pm and we don’t here from her again until 6:30 am. So I had a nice evening to do some sewing.
As I mentioned before, I reorganized my fabric stash this weekend which made this wool burlap come to the surface. My mother-in-law gave me her entire scrap bag about a year ago which contained all sorts of interesting fabric – things I would never be daring enough to buy on my own. This one was among them.
I like the raw edges and the natural look of this fabric. I left the top edge of the bag raw. The handle has two vintage buttons
and it is lined with fabric from a vintage table cloth I found thrifting this weekend.
And, of course, more shashiko-style embroidery. This bag is rather long for some reason.
This week I will be saying good-bye to Tiger Belly Owl. He is going to live in Georgia. I had to take his picture one last time so I’ll remember him.
And, I want to say thank you to moki for sending me a sample of wool roving. She had made some beautiful felted beads and sent me some directions and the little capsule to make them in, plus a sample bead.
As soon as I opened the package I started making them. Thank you. I love crafty mail

yes, it is a long bag…u could possibly fit an umbrella in there. (or Dad would say a whole lot of tomatos) Hehe. But, I really like the fabric, and your emroidery technique is inspiring and classy. Felted beads look like so much fun! And congrats on selling the owl, the belly is just really adorable.

I love your blog! Your owl is so awesome! I like that your bag is longer than most tote bags-very original. It’s also nice to run across another abby now and then 😉 Happy Craftin’.

Wow, that is a lovely bag. I’m such a knitter that my first thought was “is that herringbone stitch?”
Tiger belly is so sweet too! *sniff*

Its not fair — there are too many cute things in your post for me to comment on properly! I love the bag — I so need to make one. And that owl, yikes he is too cute! And what a great idea for the felt. And that little gumball machine container is great!
